Vincenzo Nason is said to have established his glassworks on the island of Murano in 1967, where the firm went on to make many sculptures of animals and birds. This boar joins that menagerie with a whimsical spirit, shaped by hand into a single figure of vibrant glass.
Aventurine glass is a seventeenth-century technique pioneered in the Murano glasshouse of the Miotto family. Here the master glassblowers of V. Nason controlled how the aventurine spread as they worked, turning an old island art into pure play.
Golden spots rest within glass of distinctive clarity, and precision hot-forming gives the boar its shape. Under a lamp, those spots catch the light across the whole figure, a cheerful note of Murano craft wherever it is placed.
